‘I am looking for the face I had before the world was made’. W B Yeats

Psychological identity, essence, exploring the unconscious and how myths, fairy stories and literary tales greatly affect our culture and psyche is at the core of my art work. It has strong Jungian overtones, investigating our common psychic heritage and Jung’s idea of the collective unconscious with its reservoir of symbols and archetypes. Literature plays a significant part in my practice, from W B Yeats to the Beano, the poets Rumi and Lorca and include writers who examine the implication of myths and fairy stories on our Self: Carl Jung, Joseph Campbell, Marina Warner, Marie-Louise Von Franz, Bruno Bettleheim and Jack Zipes.

I use a diverse range of mediums including film, drawing, photography, printmaking, video, sculpture, knitting and site specific.
